Our Design Philosophy
Our Design Philosphy
At JS Design Group we believe in and practice fundamental, conservative design principles, believing that the value of your Web Pages is increased when it is presented in a format your client base or target audience finds familiar and comfortable.
We have been providing graphic and web site design, marketing and public relations services to business, non-profit organizations and political campaigns for over fifteen years.
We offer a range of experience and expertise that lets you rest assured that your project is in good, capable hands. We work to meet the needs you outline -- not some abstract artistic goal of creating the wildest pages on the Web.
This entire web site, for instance, uses our version of a traditional newspaper or magazine format. We use 'tables' to establish a 'Table of Contents' we feel helps the user understand the overall organization of the site, where things are and how to get there.
Many of our sites use a combination of frames, tables, in line graphics, etc., to create headlines, subheads, columns and highlighted areas of text, just as you might find in the Boston Globe, New York or LA Times.
Our practice is to take the best of technology and use it for our client's benefit -- to make you look good. In our opinion, 'looking good' involves the seamless integration of technology into what we already know and do -- evolution rather than revolution, a better way of doing what we've always done.
Our design philosophy also takes into consideration the limitations of technology. For instance, though we have very fast computers and modems, we know that many people do not. We take this into consideration during the design process, so that the average user will be able to load our pages quickly, further enhancing their viewing experience.
We make minimal use of large graphics and photos, which cause many browsers to bog down. When such things are used, we try to link them in such a manner that they are optional -- if you want them, you can get them, otherwise, they won't slow you down.
Our business philosophy at JS Design is simlilar to our design philosophy: conservative and fundamental. We do what needs to be done to get the job done right. We have found through experience that it takes just as much time and effort to do something wrong as it does to to it correctly, right from the start.
The first step in the design process is discussing the image that your company, group or organization wants to project to the world at large and what you hope to accomplish with your Web site. We must consider the opportunities and the responsibilities of posting your message on the Internet and entering your business into international commerce.
The second step is to review the marketing materials that you presently use, such as your brochures, pamphlets, newspaper, radio and television ads, and, if you're a non-profit, any fundraising letters and campaigns. What you have on your web page should be in harmony with all your other advertising, presenting a consistent, strong message.
The third step is to develop a proposal that specifies what we are going to do and what you are going to do. This proposal will be specific as to the timing and amount of the investment you should expect to make in the process of developing your site, as well as its continuing maintenance.
To this point the commitment has all been on our part -- now the roles become more equal. We will complete our work in a timely manner and will do everything within our power to make sure that you, your associates, partners or Board members are 100% satisfied with our work. We expect that you will do the same for us.
